When you ask God for patience he doesn't give you patience he gives you the opportunity to be patient
When you ask God for courage he doesn't give you courage but the opportunity to be courageous.
When you pray for your family to be close he doesn't "zap" you with warm feelings he offers the opportunity to love each other.
