Happy Spring to all.
We are in the middle of our spring break and well....we have no Easter Pics, didn't go anywhere yet and have not done a thing. why???
Jacob woke up Easter Morning about 4:30 a.m. screaming of a headache and a temp of 102. Mark and Noah went to church. We were to leave that a.m. to start our travels so I had not been to the store so we had a make shift Easter dinner...it was o.k. I have had a head cold yuck--- I made it all winter without being sick. Jacob's fever finally broke Monday afternoon. Mark's leave was canceled due to a report that has to be in Wash. D.C. today. So plans change.....
We are hopefully leaving tomorrow a.m. and heading to St.Louis. We have to go the long way through Memphis and up 55 since our normal route is flooded (another reason I did not go on up by myself) Our trip will be a fast one and may not get to see everyone we wanted to or do everything we like to do in ST.L. We will get to do some of our favorites:
1. Grammie's house (Jacob loves the unending supply of ice cream treats in the freezer)
2. Trader Joe's
3. St.Louis Bread Co.
So, hopefully Mark will get to Fed Ex on time today so he is free to leave in the morning. We will head back EARLY Sunday a.m. since we have school on Monday. The busy life will all start again that day. Looking back I am sure we will be glad to have had this week just to chill which doesn't happen very often. back to the laundry. Have a great week whatever you do for spring break.

monday thoughts
Yea!! dancing with the stars and the bachelor is back on t.v. i know a little shallow but i love to watch how stupid the girls act on the bachelor.
today was sign up for 6th grade band...it is the first of many first come first serve events....we got to the school and parked ourselves in the parking lot 45 minutes early and we were #32..that was actually not bad. noah is signed up to play the alto sax. now we have to go rent one and apparently it ranks up there with a house payment. since noah is now a boy scout he needs real camping gear so we went back pack shopping this week-end and wow sticker shock. we are used to camping where we just throw it in the back of van and go. shouldn't kids need to start working at 11 instead of 16????
i finally finished THE SHACK. boy was that thought provoking. i will save deeper comments for a later bolg as they should not be in the same blog as thoughts on the bachelor. it is a good read.
happy st.patrick's day! hope ya'll wore green.

Schools
What is your opinions on schools??? Public (which we are in) Charter (we are looking) Private (not really an option here) How do we know which is best for our kids? I would love view points from many as we look at the next couple of years. I think life should be fair and hate the thought of spending hours in line, nights on someones front lawn or counting on a lottery system just to make sure my kids get a fair chance. We want our kids to excel in education but why all the chances? If we are 17th in line and they stop at 16 then my kid does get the chance to learn? First come first serve education is the game around here. Someone older and wiser than me please explain this system to me. Maybe I am just a rambler and worry too much.
What if your kids don't fit into "the box" and need more than just teaching for the test.....

Thoughts...... Do we really have to like each other?
O.K. I know there are people in your lives that you may not care for and would rather not be around. Do you have people in your lives that you can just tell they don't like YOU? There are 2 people right now in our lives that.....I just can't figure it out and it even keeps me up at night wondering what did I do? There is a gal who I see at school functions, church, grocery, we even use the same hair dresser....so in this small community we run into each other alot, however, I get the feeling she would much rather get the gum off the bottom of her shoe than to talk to me. I for some reason am a nusence to her...why???? I have no idea... we don't work together in committees I am fairly new in the groups and committees when we do run into each other. I am nice and polite so go figure.
There is another person that I am convinced does not like Jacob. ( who could not like him?) So I find myself not taking Jacob to places where they would be together. This is an adult and a school teacher...is she just tired? Is Jacob to smart for her and she feels threatened? Jacob marches to his own beat most of the time and does not fit into "the box" very well.
So, I ask Do we really have to like each other all the time? Do we have to be friends with everyone? What about people from the past? Do you feel guilty (as i do) if you lose contact with them? Are there people out there that may think YOU do not like them?
Just a random thought on a Thursday...
Have a great day!!!
Say hello and smile to everyone today!!

FINALLY
O.K. for our St.Louis readers who are tired of snow and winter.....we finally had our day. They called off school at 5:30 this morning and there was nothing on the ground....the weather man was so sorry at 8:00 because there was still nothing on the ground after the last 24 hours of them warning us of a HUGE storm in the metro area. Finally about 10:00 we looked out and there it was. We might only get a inch or two but in an area where it never snows it is great for us. On the flip side...since it doesn't snow much here we are not prepared...no snow shovel, no sleds, I had to hunt for gloves and hats that would work. Cardboard boxes make great sleds and we do a perfect hill. Sand Castle molds made perfect snow castles. Our forest in the back looks like a winter wonderland. Hot Coco with cool whip to warm you up is the best for break time. The boys clothes are drying for round two since the snow is still coming down and they are getting the army men together to go back out to the snow castles.
So, do I go shopping for winter stuff while it is on sale, shovels, sleds, etc...... if I do it will not snow again for years here. The last time it snowed like this Noah was in Kindergarten.
I am catching up on stuff here...reading, PTA paperwork, Scrap booking and of course laundry.
I am trying to finish two books...Becky (about Becky Thatcher) and The Shack both VERY different but both very good. I am also reading THE ROAD for book club. Normally I am not such a multi task reader but they all have my attention right now.
Today was to be Noah's tour day of Middle School. YIKES! Middle School time! Next week is also when He and Mark get to go to band class at the middle school...this is when they go and look at each instrument and decide which one Noah is going to play. At school now they are taking all kinds of tests to determine which classes and which A.P. groups etc..... can't believe he is ready for all of this.
Enjoy your weather whatever it is. We are warm and having fun. Poor Mark, the Hospital still goes on so he is at work today but hopes to come home early.

Great Day!!
The weather was to be warm and sunny today. Jacob and I packed up the van with all the park gear and Noah and Mark picked up some subs for lunch and off we went. The temps reached 75 I think. Mark even has a little sunburn on the forehead. While we were eating lunch Jacob called one of his friends -- Huston --to see if his family wanted to come join us. Instead they invited us to come over to the airport to see the WWII Bombers. This was a day made for Noah. He was thrilled since WWII is his passion. There were three bombers and they let you in them. Each plane had one of the original pilots with it. The crowd was small so Noah was able to spend lots of time in each plane and talking with the men. He even got a bullet from the plane. Noah bought a book and had it signed by the Author's Son. I think he has even read half of it so far. Great Day!! Especially for Noah. We then took Huston with us to another park and played for about three hours. Whew! for us this was alot in one day. Great to be outside and it puts me in the tanning fever.
