as promised

Here are two pictures of Noah from Earth Day. If you look close you can see he "RECYCLED" the razorback poster to cheer for Mizzou. The 5th grade tradition on Earth Day is to have "fashion show" of recycled clothes. The 2nd pic is Him singing Earth Earth Baby.
Oh to be in our little corner of the Earth and what we think is cool and fun....thanks for looking and sharing with us.

Opportunity

From one of my favorite movies....Evan Almighty

When you ask God for patience he doesn't give you patience he gives you the opportunity to be patient
When you ask God for courage he doesn't give you courage but the opportunity to be courageous.
When you pray for your family to be close he doesn't "zap" you with warm feelings he offers the opportunity to love each other.
Have a happy week and also from Evan Almighty ---- ARK ( A Random act of Kindness)

EARTH DAY!!!

Earth Day at our school is a HUGE deal. While all schools celebrate Earth Day we celebrate it all week. Since we are one of the only schools in the area that really goes all out.... the Newspaper was there as well as the t.v. news. Big Day.

I was a sub all this week in Noah's class so I was able to participate as a "Teacher". Each hallway (K-2 and 3-5) had activities all morning. Bird house making, trash art, trail mix eating, etc..... Every student decorated a brown paper grocery sack and those were returned to the store for them to use. The message on the bags were to remind people to recycle and take care of our earth. My station for 3rd - 5th graders was Solar cooking. We made s'mores and apple pie with no sun and raindrops..oh well we tried. They enjoyed the snacks even though we couldn't melt the chocolate. next week the sun will be blazing out.

I told them stories of going camping with my Dad and how he used the sun and the earth to cook, some of you readers have had the pleasure of camping with Mr.Dean. How dad used to bury that dutch oven with peach cobbler or apple crisp. frying donuts and cooking steak and baked potatoes on the grill all while we floated on the river..

anyway, back to earth day... it was a big year for Noah because in the afternoon we have an all school program. Every grade performs "earthy" songs and raps about recycling. The 5th grade GT kids are the emcees. Also Noah put on his Scout uniform and along with two other Scouts led the color guard. (the little kids really think they are soldiers and are so impressed.) Noah sang Earth Earth Baby with a backup group of girls. The 5th grade as tradition have a recycle fashion show. I will tell you about Noah's outfit but you will have to wait for a picture to truly appreciate it. He wore his Cotton Bowl shirt and pinned black and gold pom poms on his shoulders (made from recycled plastic) and recylced an old Arkansas Razorback poster as a prop--- he covered it with a huge Missouri Tiger face over the hog. The Teachers are huge razorback fans so he did it for them. My camera was out of memory so I'll post pictures later. here are a few pics from the day. just random shots of having fun.
Happy Earth Week and remember to take care of the Earth and recycle!!

Thursday Thoughts....

For all of you out that have a baby and are trying to teach them to go to sleep by themselves...i have sympathy for you...my boys were perfect sleepers and even slept through the night (6 hours) by week three. Harrison the puppy is a different story..oh my he howled and barked and whined for three hours last night.....I was up , I was down, I would hold him and he would drift right off to sleep and when I would stand up he would would whine again finally at 1:30 a.m. I put him in the crate and went to bed and shut the door thinking he is just a dog. He has been pretty good until last night.....maybe it was the chips and salsa we found him eating...he had jumped up on the table. He was really hoping I would cave and put him bed with us.

Harrison loves his toys and makes sure when we are all home at night that every chair has a toy on it hoping that whoever sits there will welcome him too. He is a cuddler and loves to be with people. Harrison has made many trips to school and loves to go in and see all the kids.

Jacob has discovered Baseball cards and how to read the back. Niether boy has really caught onto Baseball probably since we do not live in a pro area and they do not play. When we talk baseball I talk Cards and Mark talks Cubs. Jacob is now tracking in the paper stats and teams etc.... I of course explain to them that the Cards are CLASSIC and the Cubs well........

Busy next few days...tonight I am going with my book club to dinner and a play at the Rep. We will also attend a book talk before the play. Mark and Noah are working the AR Travelers game with the Boy Scouts. (the Travs are a Texas Ranger minor league team -- I think?) Jacob is staying home with our first ever "Guy Sitter"... He will be tired when he leave here...Jacob has the air hockey, indoor baseketball game, lacrosse, and all the video games loaded. Hopefully our sitter will not have alot of homework and I am not sure he will be thrilled with the arts and crafts Jacob has set up (he is used to girl sitters).

Mark returned home from Wash.D.C. last night. The boys were impressed that he stayed near the Pentagon and he of course brought home goodies for them. Jacob collects snow globes and Noah collects ANYTHING political, Presidental and WWII related. Mark had no trouble finding things.

well... I must get on with my day. Have a good day everyone..
Tomorrow is Mark's B-day!!!!!

Also in the Puppet team and the took GOLD!!
Noah received a GOLD in Service challenge ( Noah did projects in the community to earn this)
Noah was on the Bible Quiz team and they earned Bronze!! (250 questions and it was HARD even Mr.Brad in ST.L and Dave in CA would have had a hard time with it)
And last Noah submitted Art work and won a GOLD!!
The first picture is of the Bible Quiz team getting ready to start. The picture next to that one is of the whole group. I look at that picture and get scared ---Noah is in the YOUTH GROUP!
The third picture is of Noah and his puppet. ( and yes, in case you are wondering he does seem to wear that NLR sweatshirt all the time -- he does have two now because I was tired of washing everyday. is this a "teen" thing????)
The theme was HERE I AM -- I Samuel
We are so thankful to have a group that Noah loves to hang out with. Tomorrow night is open house at the middle school. This past week-end Noah went on his first BOY SCOUT camp-out. Where does the time go?
____________________________________________
Jacob and I went and saw College Road Trip with Raven. It is a cute movie and guess who is in it???? Jacob asked me how did I know him......DONNY OSMOND he plays a nerdy dad (which most think of him as nerdy.....but so am I and I still LOVE HIM!!!)
I still love to listen to Donny EXCEPT when he sings remakes of AIR SUPPLY then I have to fast forward. He is just my 8 year old heart throb all over again. Now if you want me to get excited about a sexy singer then give Bon Jovi anyday!!
Have a great week. Not sure when I will blog this week since I am teaching all week.
Enjoy your family and read a good book!!

Harrison's new look

Harrison went for his first cut yesterday. I was a little unhappy that they cut him so short and a little to"FROO FROO". They asked if I wanted his nails painted and a bow. I was informed by the other males in the house a huge NO. I did tell the groomer that his name is Harrison a manly type dog so no thank you on the nail polish and bows.

Harrison is everywhere I said he could not be....living room, the beds.....he loves to snuggle back in with me after Mark takes him out at 5:00 a.m. (I knew I could work that one HA HA) then Harrison and I go in and wake the boys up at 6:30.

We are adjusting fine and tomorrow will be a big test as I have to be gone from the house alot.

I'll just be at school so I can run home a couple of times. We have Honor Roll Day and Awards.

Mark and Noah are going on the first Boy Scout campout Fri- Sun so I am today getting all the camping gear together.

Happy Thursday!

Introducing..........

Harrison Webster Delashaw has joined our family. Look who we picked up while in St.Louis. Had not planned to and no our house is NOT puppy proof. He is a mama's boy and loves to curl up and sleep on your lap but, he also loves the dirt outside.
Harrison is 16 weeks old. An Apricot mini poodle. He gets to go to "Groomingdales "tomorrow for his first puppy cut.
Going out at 5:30 a.m. is a new thing for me.
Happy Puppy
